Every recurring deadline that matters between now and med school, in one place. The dates below are the verified pattern each cycle follows — always confirm the exact day on the official page the year you use it.
Next 12 months (Jul 2026 – Jun 2027)

The annual rhythm (every year until you apply)
Fall (Aug–Dec)
- Oct 1 — FAFSA opens
- Org fair — recommit or step up to leadership
- PPAC check-in appointment (once per semester)
- UC scholarship universal app opens (typically late fall)
Winter (Jan–Feb)
- Summer research program deadlines (SURF, UPRISE, national REUs)
- Summer program + pipeline program applications
- Grade check: is the trend line still rising?
Spring (Mar–May)
- Local scholarship deadlines cluster here
- Book summer shadowing + volunteering before spots fill
- Application years only: AMCAS/AACOMAS open early May
Summer (Jun–Aug)
- Ramp clinical hours (biggest blocks of the year)
- Application years only: submit primaries in the first 2 weeks
- Update resume, LinkedIn, and hour logs before fall
The application year, month by month
When the cycle comes (planned: apply May–June 2029 for fall 2030 matriculation), this is the shape of it. Rolling admissions means every month earlier is a real advantage.
Jan – Mar
Foundations
Finalize school list (MSAR + Choose DO Explorer; include Ohio publics + DO schools). Personal statement drafts. Start the PPAC letter packet. Take Casper/PREview if your schools want them.
Early May
Applications open
AMCAS (~May 5) and AACOMAS (~May 4) open — enter every course, every activity. Have transcripts requested already.
Late May – mid June
Submit
AMCAS earliest submission ~May 28; transmitted to schools ~June 26. Submitting in the first two weeks puts you in the first verification batch.
Jul – Sep
Secondaries sprint
Schools send secondary essays. Golden rule: return each within 2 weeks. Pre-write common prompts ("diversity," "challenge," "why us") in June.
Sep – Feb
Interviews
Invitations arrive rolling. Your comeback story, your hours, your community work — this is where they become an advantage no flat-3.8 applicant can match.
Oct – Spring
Decisions
Acceptances roll out (DO schools often earlier). April: choose. August: white coat.
